about

Graduating from New York University in 2022 with a degree in Studio Art and two minors in Art History and Documentary Film Making, Yasemin Germiyanligil, 25,  is a multidisciplinary artist focused on painting, weaving, knitwear and the moving image. She has completed a Certification in Soft Sculpture from Otis College of Art, a Certification in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute and is currently pursuing an MFA at Parsons School of Design for Textiles. Yasemin often focuses on the idea of meditation through art, using her creative process as a transcendental practice, making the process become apart of the finished object. Weaving, knitting and painting, she has found, lend themselves to this practice as her gestural way of creating allows the marks she makes to have a life of their own.

Alongside her studio practice, Yasemin creates spaces for others to engage with fiber in an open and intuitive way. She leads art programming and workshops at The 22, where she organizes weaving, knitting, and fiber-based sessions, as well as artist talks and gallery walkthroughs. She also regularly works with and learns from the community at Loop of the Loom, deepening her practice in traditional and contemporary weaving techniques.

Her workshops focus less on technical perfection and more on building a relationship to making—encouraging participants to slow down, trust their instincts, and enjoy the process. She is also the founder of Daisy Lane, a sustainable knitwear project rooted in small-batch production, collaboration, and care.

Through both her art and her teaching, Yasemin is interested in building a community around fiber—spaces where people can come together, learn, experiment, and reconnect with creativity.

Daisy Lane continues to have a life of its own at daisylane.world
